Mentoring Opportunities

Losing someone we love can be one of the most difficult experiences of our lifetime.
But the truth is, we don’t often make it easier for ourselves or our dying loved ones. Many families refuse to speak about the upcoming death, as though a superstition. Some of those who are willing to face the difficult times ahead may not have taken into consideration what their loved one really needs, outside of medical intervention.
Death is often seen as a failure in the medical world. We put so much focus on trying to overcome ailments, extend life expectancy, etc., that we miss the opportunity to nurture the dying in the way they deserve; in the way our ancestors had loved and supported one another.
Fighting for vitality through intervention is not wrong if thats what the dying wants, however I’ve found in my experience it makes an incredible impact on everyone affected to be open about the possibility of end of life. We all die, and talking about it will not cause it to happen.
Although I offer doula services, I have found over the years that my clients moreoften want guidance and support on how to care for their dying loved ones rather than having a doula step in.

During sessions we:

  • Talk openly and judgment free about YOUR fears and concerns around your loved one.

  • Discuss different approaches to bringing up sensitive subjects.

  • Talk about what will be left behind, and how to ease the transition of them passing without leaving a mess behind for the grieving family.

  • Make plans around vigil.

  • Discuss different takes and experiences on death and dying to help expand our view.

  • Consider the ways in which our ancestors cared for one another, and tap back in to the power of community and levity.

Please fill out an intake form to discuss mentoring availability and rates.
